..with Drake going into surgery tomorrow, i honestly believe that with people talking about him & his success, as well as people like myself, who thought his choice to go on tour with a messed up knee was a bad decision, i think he's gonna have a lotttt to say come this winter with "Thank Me Later".
like i tell alotta people - yeah, you can quote his lines, but can you really relate? nah, he didn't grow up in the toughest environments but he did WORK in one of the toughest lines of work there is & thats entertainment - WELL before he showed people he had a way with words.
i got put onto Drake (music-wise) when Trey Songz had a mixtape out with the 804 Boyz & i was trying to find out who he was. when i did, i was impressed & kinda knew i was gonna see this dude later. "Room For Improvement" was thrown in a shoe box after i got it in '06 when i was in DC because i was confused about his style.. then came "Comeback Season" & i found out who his producers were. thats when i started paying attention to him more. i would tell people but they'd be like "..he's a TV nigga.. he aint hot." --- "So Far Gone" came out & now look.. everyone is on his nuts.. claiming they've been a fan & all this.. whatever. nahh, i didn't watch Degrassi because it wasn't something i liked. so what? "i've known him since i was watching Degrassi.." ---- *raises eyebrow*
all in all, i kept up with about 75% of Drake & his career even up to now.. his background, how he likes to craft & lots of other stuff.
with "Thank Me Later", i think he's gonna change up a few songs to accomodate a set amount of listeners & viewers. like i said, if you pay attention to what the man is saying, he's saying some real sht, whether you've dealt with it already in life or not.. i relate. on alotta levels.
get well soon homie. the game needs you. seriously.
